The Black Forest Marathon of 1971 was the largestrun worldwide with1,500 participants.

In 1974the first international women’s cup was held in Bräunlingen and 1975 saw the first national women’s championship at the Black Forest Marathon.

Since 1968 the Black Forest Marathon always takes place on the second Sunday of October, the route beingone of the most beautiful natural trails in Europe.
